[W5SFA] September Club Meeting and Info About Our Upcoming Balloon Launch

Club Members,

Our next meeting is coming up on Wednesday, August 31 at the Cielito Lindo Mexican Restaurant in Bellville. Dinner at 6, Meeting at 7.

One of the items on the agenda is our upcoming balloon launch. Ray WA5IWB will have information about how to track the balloon from your web browser. If you are running the WSJT-X program hooked up to your HF rig, you may be able to receive transmissions directly.

Last week we did a tethered launch test to test the transmitter and antenna - see the club web site for some photos.

The balloon launch has been scheduled for next Saturday (September 3) at 9:30 am in Holt Park in Brenham. This location places us close to our gas source (the Party department at HEB) should we have a problem with the launch. Holt Park is on the North Side of Brenham off Business 36, where the Disc Golf course is. As is typical with most of our gatherings, there is a high probability of a dining event afterwards (a launch lunch).
