I just recently picked up his "Understanding your  Antenna Analyzer" and The ARRL Guide to Antenna Tuners"  Loaded with gems. I recond both and will soon get his other books.  Ham Radio will miss him.

I am saddened to report that Joel Hallas, W1ZR, ARRL author, technical editor and my friend, passed away after a many months long fight with Pancreatic Cancer. Joel wrote quite a few books about my favorite subject "antennas and transmission lines" and was the brains and voice behind "The Doctor is In" QST column and podcast.
