As of December 31, 2016, the total number of licensees in the FCC database was 742,787. The all-time high was of 743,003 reached November 2016.
Breakdown goes like this:
143,337 Amateur Extra licensees
45, 071 Advanced licensees
172,807 General licensees
371,560 Technician licensees
10,012 Novice licensees.
US population is currently 325,508,188, so the 742,787 licensed US Radio Amateurs comprise .228% of the US population.
BVARC, at 200 members, makes up about .027 percent of the Ham Population.
ARRL members, 170,000, are about 22.8 percent of the licensed hams.
Put that in your TTFD terminating resistor and smoke it. W5RH
