Folks,

The weekly W5SFA Tuesday net is tonight, with yours truly as net control.
We had 12 checkins last week - the most this year.

Our October club meeting is tomorrow, Wednesday, at Yani's Steak House in
Bellville. As usual, dinner is at 6 and meeting at 7. The main event will
be a presentation by Bill Pellerin, KE5XV about D-Star digital repeaters.
As you've probably heard, the club now has an operational D-Star repeater,
thanks to Dan White. But you'll need a D-Star radio or a USB stick with a
computer to access it. Bill's talk will cover this, and there will be a
demonstration afterward.

Also coming up this Saturday, October 28 is our SKYWARN training, which is
being held in the Austin County Courthouse basement at 1 - 3:30 pm.
Remember, you don't have to be a ham to take the training, and it's open to
the public. And did I mention it's free?

Finally, our special event station at the San Felipe de Austin State
Historic Site is Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 am till 4 pm. We'll be operating
at least one transmitter with a 600W amp, to make sure we get heard, with
the approach of the solar minimum. With any luck we should have cool
weather too.

We will also need to begin planning for the annual banquet in January.

73,

Roger N5RWK
