A license upgrade (in your case, Technician to General) does not extend or reset the term of a license. Like you - and others I spoke with - I had assumed that an upgrade would renew the license term. The truth is that there are only two actions that reset
the expiration date: renewing the license itself or obtaining a vanity callsign.</div>
