By the time I got back to it at 7:20 all was quiet. <br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:large"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:large">When I was younger (45 years ago) , some friends and I participated in launching large balloons and kites. One thing we realized is that they need to be a dark color. White disappears within a few hundred feet. We watched one balloon get sucked into a storm front, then get spit out higher up and disappear into the higher atmosphere. The Balloon was gray. Could not have seen a white one. We filled our balloons with super hot air and they rose like a rocket. I have no photos of the balloons. Once a police car drove by and asked what we were doing. We said we were experimenting with radio controlled balloons. They laughed and drove away.<br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:large"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:tahoma,sans-serif;font-size:large">The Kites were easier to find because I could follow the line up to it with my high power lens. We started putting nav lights on them, because we couldn't see them if it got dark before we could get them down. The two people with the kite were friends that started building these huge kites. Nobody ever came to see what we were doing, though I know we were way up in the flight path.<br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Tue, Sep 6, 2022 at 7:40 PM Gary <<a href="mailto:kf5zrt@protonmail.com">kf5zrt@protonmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div style="font-family:Arial;font-size:14px"><br></div><div style="font-family:Arial;font-size:14px">Thanks to all that joined in tonight.
