David Ray Nowak, 67, of Brenham, Texas, passed away on October23, 2025 after a brief illness. Gravesideservice will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at CalvaryCatholic Cemetery in Brenham, TX. Areception will be held at the Kenney Store in Kenney, TX, following the serviceat 12:15 p.m., hosted by David’s friends. His friends and family are welcome tocome together and share memories in his honor.
David was born on July 1, 1958 in Brenham, Texas, to parentsRaymond and Evelyn (Kasprowicz) Nowak. Hewas baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham. David wasa lifelong member of St. Mary’s where he served as an acolyte and administered communionto those that were homebound. He graduatedfrom Brenham High School in 1976 and attended Blinn College.
David worked at Washington County State Bank, Bode and Tonn,and then found his true calling working for the City of Brenham as a TelecommunicationsOperator dispatching for the Brenham Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’sOffice, Emergency Medical Services and Texas Department of Public Safety. David later continued his public service asan Evidence Technician for the Brenham Police Department. He also was a volunteer for the Brenham FireDepartment as a photographer where he took photos of accidents, trainings andcommunity events. David was a very talentedphotographer and took some of the most amazing photographs. David loved his ham radio. He received his license in 1979 under thecall sign KA5EEQ. He then upgraded totechnician status in 1982 and in 1990 got his advanced certification and his callsign was changed to KI5JI. He was amember of the American Radio Relay League and was a former member of theBrenham Amateur Radio Club and the Washington County Amateur Radio Club. One of David’s greatest loves was animals. He loved all of his pets who were veryspecial to him.
David also had a passion for computers and technology,proudly owning one of the first Apple computers. He was an avid reader with awide-ranging curiosity and a genuine interest in the lives of others. Friendsoften received thoughtfully selected magazines, periodicals, or books fromDavid—tokens of his care and attentiveness to their interests. His generosity,intellect, and constant thoughtfulness left a lasting impression on all whoknew him.
David was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
David is survived by his faithful companion, BULLITT; hisaunt, Virginia Guinn of Houston; numerous cousins and friends who mourn hispassing.

Here is what I put together. I confirmed the year he graduated from HS and in the process found out about their 70's reunion group that is now a non-profit and they give out scholarships each year. I thought that would be a nice option for anyone wanting to make a donation. I also found a police K9 foundation that I thought would be something David would like.
