I found a link and added a link that Chuck mentioned.

If we want to get the ARRL to reimburse the one-time $35 application fee
for new license candidates younger than 18-years old for tests administered
under the *ARRL *Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (*ARRL VEC <vec at arrl.org>*)
program,  we as W5YI VE examiners have to fill out a form and send it to
the ARRL.  The form would give us ARRL VE status.

Also:  Additionally, candidates younger than 18-years old would pay a
reduced exam session fee of $5 to the ARRL VEC VE team at the time of the
exam.

We would be licensed to administer ARRL tests without going through the
test for ARRL VE.

Thanks for chasing this down.

 

I also have (had) ARRL VE accreditation, but pretty sure it has expired as one needs to have participated in an ARRL VE session within the last 5 years.   But it looks like one can be reinstated fairly easily.

 

The last exams the club administered was way back in 2021.  That year we administered a grand total of 3 tests, nothing since.  So, it may be an opportune time to switch from W5YI  to ARRL.  Either way, there are some procedural changes we?ll have to get up to speed on.  

 

I?d also prefer not to be the VE team coordinator and give that opportunity to someone else!

Announcements tonight: There appears to be an issue with the XLX979 server tonight. Jack and Joe both tried to check in but only received hash noise. Similar to C4FM digital on a analog FM radio. The good news is the 2 meter system is back to normal operation thanks to Roger N4RWK and Ray WA5IWB. There was a loud hum along with any transmission. Apparently the power supply was faulty. It was replaced and now back to normal operation. Chuck W5PR came in with a great signal tonight.

I tried on 2 meters from the new house in Bellville. Ruth and I are still
going back and forth 80 miles each way between here and the old house in
Manvel almost every day moving the last of the mountain of stuff we

Folks,

It's Tuesday, so the weekly net will commence at 7 pm with N5RWK as net control. Bellville UHF digital, VHF analog.

Also, the March club meeting is tomorrow (Wednesday) evening at Cielito Lindo Mexican Restaurant in Bellville. Dinner at 6, Meeting at 7.

Happy Easter

 

With Nathalie N5ATH and a few friends, we launched a balloon early morning
(7h20 local time. 12h20 UTC). The callsign is N5CNB (N5CNB-11).

 

The balloon wakes up at 9h18 north of Hempstead,Tx
