Hi Dan:

It would be good to get away form house and Houston in August for an evening. What time of day will that viewing be best? Got a rain date planned – next night, maybe?

I haven’t shown this to Joy yet, but I’m pretty sure she could be enticed to come up, too – can we?

Members;

Linda and I were out looking at the comet to night. It was visible at 10 deg. above the horizon just below the ladle of the Big Dipper. It was faint but the sky was clear the seeing was very good.

We will have the dome open on Wednesday at 9 PM for viewing. If the weather is good. On the 3rd of August it will be 26.45 deg. high and next to comet Lemmon near Arcturus. At that time both tails will be pointed the same way and be just North of West (281 deg.). I will have the dome open then also if the weather permits. Would be good through August 7th to see both comets at the same time.

Let me know if you are interested in viewing the comet either or both times. This would be at Cameron’s Barndo in Cat Spring. 11436 FM 949.
