Greetings to all.

Just a quick reminder to check out the Washington County Special Net on 
the 147.260 repeater in Brenham.? Their net is a information session 
about Covid-19 presented by Dr. Will, local doctor in Brenham.? This net 
is scheduled for 7:00 PM tonight.

At 7:30 PM we will have our March Club meeting via the Bellville 
repeaters.? Thanks to Roger, Dan and Dennis in getting our repeater 
systems back to normal operation.? This net is a first for us, but is 
the norm around the country to keep up the exchange of information and 
socialization for the club.? Hope to hear you on the nets tonight.

When the virus has run its course, I'm going to put my portable generator up
for sale.  I used it to power essentials in my home when I lived in Houston,
but we put in a whole house generator when we moved to the country.  

 

It is a Honda EU6500is and is a variable speed, (relatively) quiet, fuel
efficient inverter type generator.  6500 watts peak, 5500 watts sustained.
It's 10 years old with only 31 hours on the meter and has been stored inside
a garage all the time.  It was capable of simultaneously running two small
window A/C units, ceiling fans, TVs, a PC, lots of interior/exterior
lighting plus all essential appliances.  It'll run up to 12 hours on a
fill-up.

 Bellville UHF repeater

Folks,

 

We have changed the DG-ID of the Bellville UHF repeater back to DG-ID of 10
on send and receive.  This was done to block out some remote stations.

 

Some further explanation.DG-ID acts like a digital squelch.  When the
repeater is set to DG-ID of 00, it lets all traffic through.  Now that the
repeater is set to DG-ID of 10, only traffic with that DG-ID will be heard.
Therefore, set your radio on both send and receive to DG-ID of 10 when using
the Bellville UHF repeater.

 

You should also make sure you are running the latest firmware for your
radio, as the last firmware update made changes regarding DG-ID.  If you
don't have the latest firmware, strange things may happen!

significant damage due to weather conditions last week. As a sister club 
in our surrounding area, I think a donation from the Stephen F. Austin 
Radio Club would be appropriate. Dollar amount not to exceed $50.00.? I 
would appreciate feedback from the club in general regarding this 
action.? I believe this amount is a modest request to help out a sister 
club in need of help.

Radio Club would be appropriate. Dollar amount not to exceed $50.00.  I 
would appreciate feedback from the club in general regarding this 
action.  I believe this amount is a modest request to help out a sister 
club in need of help.

    a.. Justin Reed GM mode generates a ton of unnecessary transmissions over the air, and the more people use it, the more congested it is. Think of the days of 1200 baud AX.25 packet. You get more than a handful of users on and nobody can talk.


    GM mode is the biggest joke and wasted effort I've ever seen, and I certainly wouldn't use it across a repeater. Simplex between a small group of people? Maybe... but definitely not through a repeater.1Hide or report this

I've had to shut repeaters down because someone leaves it running overnight and I can't contact them. Many of the radios will beacon every 15 seconds. You can use it when hiking, etc., to make sure you are still in range of everyone else. I've used it to check coverage on my repeater. But I don't think it is useful except if you are sitting in front of the radio and you need to know the status of other stations.Hide or report this

Didn't the club member on FM331, who lived near 36 with the crank up tower
that never cranked up, pass on?  If so, I wonder if that tower would be
available for reduced price?
