Show us how. Sounds like it would solve a lot of problems. Dan

What about setting up a remote base, accessed via the net using Skype? It works with analog radios, no reason it would not work with digital

  Roger,

The problem I have with Echo Link is the latency using my smart phone. When you toggle the key it takes a moment for it to key up the repeater, then you have to push it again to go back to receive. I found I was many times doubling with others when trying to talk. Most net control operators do the regular call ins, then ask if there are any Echo Link users wishing to check in's to allow for the latency issues. It is doable but sure not as convenient as a radio. I spoke with Bill Potter and had a conversation regarding the interface, and the cost is less than $100 but when I explained the setup we have now there are no more ports on the controller for the interface. As we are using all three ports of the controller hence (VHF, UHF, & Columbus) . I can look and see if there is a work around or maybe a sharing of ports that could be done. If the club decides to pursue this I can call Ken at Arcom to address the sharing issue. Let me know, Bill also volunteered to help us set it up.

  Dennis,

Thanks…I will pose the same question as Dan – can you provide more detail?

John’s question was about being able to join the club’s net when on the road. I’d like to do that as well. Using a non-club repeater doesn’t really address that. This may end up being a moot point, if there isn’t much interest in doing this – or if there isn’t some technical or cost barrier – but I’d like to give it due diligence!

  Roger

I echo Dan's thoughts on echo link.

Bill Potter in Chappel Hill has echo link on one of his all star repeaters. Washington Club has analogue repeaters and only one of those does C4. 145.390.
