All, 

 

The Summerfest web site is still a bit thin as far as details about the
technical program, but the Texas VHF-FM Society meets from 1-3 pm and the
ARRL forum is from 9-10 am Saturday.

 

If anyone is planning to stay overnite on Friday (and save an early morning
drive to Austin) let me know and perhaps we can hook up for dinner, drinks,
mayhem etc.  You can now reserve the hotel room online, they just added the
link to the web site.  Rate is $109/nite, with taxes comes to about $125.

All, 

 

The Summerfest web site is still a bit thin as far as details about the
technical program, but the Texas VHF-FM Society meets from 1-3 pm and the
ARRL forum is from 9-10 am Saturday.

 

If anyone is planning to stay overnite on Friday (and save an early morning
drive to Austin) let me know and perhaps we can hook up for dinner, drinks,
mayhem etc.  You can now reserve the hotel room online, they just added the
link to the web site.  Rate is $109/nite, with taxes comes to about $125.

The RV trip was great, 5 National Parks plus Monument Valley.  I have lots

There isn't much that happens on Friday, the main event is on Saturday from 8 am until around 1 or 2 pm in the afternoon.

159 is closed between Bellville and Hempstead.  There has been an evacuation

Thanks for the info. Now I know why I heard a bunch of police cars on hwy36 and one that came by my house on fm331 just after 5am. The plant was the Western International Gas plant. They deal with all different types of gas.

Last I heard no injuries and everyone evacuated, per Bellville FD.   As I mentioned in previous post it must be out of control as they have pulled everyone back 1/2 mile and regrouping.... no chatter on radio now.

    They have expanded the safe zone to 5 miles which includes my neighborhood in Bellville.   They are allowing residence to return home but cannot leave unless it's a medical emergency.   Once again the Frequency is 159.045 to monitor the FD working the scene.   They have FDs from Brenham, Sealy and other surrounding communities helping in the effort.

Brad,

 

You need to choose 5 kc spacing instead of 10kc on your radio, scanner or device used for receiving. That would give you 159 .040, .045, .050, etc instead of 159 .040, .050, .060.    Make sense?

Thanks for the info. Now I know why I heard a bunch of police cars on hwy36
and one that came by my house on fm331 just after 5am. The plant was the
Western International Gas plant. They deal with all different types of gas.

Thanks for sorting out the list of presentations, that will come in handy!  Looks like a pretty decent program this year.

 

We will probably arrive Friday afternoon, around 3 pm or thereabouts.  I suspect we'll head over to the bar at the Crowne Plaza for happy hour - so if you or anyone else arriving Friday want to meet up that might be a good place as any.
